About

Cooking is fun. Eating is funner. I cook, photograph and write these recipes. Everything I post on this blog I make from scratch using fresh wholesome ingredients.. I've been cooking since I was a little kid. My recipes are based on trial and error, along with studying cookbooks, family recipes, blogs and cooking shows. Some of the veggies and herbs I use are grown in my garden. Yay sustainability! I'm working on making my yard into an edible landscape. It's really fun to go out in the garden and pick your veggies for dinner! Besides cooking, gardening and photography, I also like to sew. Here are some items from my Etsy Shop:

Thanksgiving-esque Chicken Apple Hash
This morning I woke up ravenously hungry & wished it was Thanksgiving. I was craving savory, apple cinnamon type things. You know how the Thanksgiving plate tastes amazing because of the combo of all the sweet and savory flavors, along with the crisp and creamy textures?  I had to have something Thanksgivingy. I knew we had chicken apple sausages from TJ’s in the deli drawer, so I made this quick hash. It only took ten minutes and tasted so good! It satisfied my craving for Thanksgiving, until later today when I think I might have to make green bean casserole.
Start with 1 small red potato per person, chopped and throw it into a skillet with a little butter or olive oil. Now add 1 chicken apple sausage per person and let that start to sear on the outside. Add 1/4 cup chopped sweet onion per person, 1/2 Granny Smith apple per person, chopped. Season with salt and pepper and cook on med low. Flip the ingredients around to brown on all sides. Then slice the sausages into circles and let them sear on the flat sides. Season with a few sprinkles of cinnamon and continue cooking until all is cooked. Serve with a poached egg.
